What are Anti-Sweat Heaters (ASH)?

  • Anti-sweat heaters (ASH) are electric resistance heaters installed in the frames and doors of reach-in coolers and freezers, commonly found in convenience stores and supermarkets, and are essential for maintaining clear, fog-free glass display doors.

  • These heaters prevent condensation, which depends on the surrounding air's moisture content and temperature, known as the dew point.

  • Higher humidity and temperature cause condensation when in contact with cool surfaces, similar to the outside of a glass of ice water in warm temperatures. Without ASHs, condensation on refrigerated case glass doors and frames is a frequent issue.

What are ASH Controls?

Factory setting keeps an ASH operational100% of the time. However, given that most commercial coolers are situated in air-conditioned spaces and climate zones without extreme heat and humidity, our research has shown that an ASH heater can function effectively with reduced power. When a refrigerator door is heated, much of that heat transfers directly into the refrigeration case, increasing cooling costs. Reducing ASH power lowers the refrigeration system's load, resulting in decreased compressor run time and energy consumption.

Over the past 15 years, we have developed and refined our Thermal Control Module®. Our patented technology has been proven to save over 75% of the ASHs' power. With energy costs at an all-time high and expected to increase even more rapidly in the future, there has never been a more opportune time to invest in this innovative technology.

Benefits of the Thermal Control Module®

Reduces heat into the interior of the building, also reducing your cooling costs

Reduces run time for you refrigeration system, extending the life of your compressor and other refrigeration components

Keeps the products closest to the display door, typically single serve beverages, even cooler

Saves store owners up to $200 per reach in cooler door, per year

Our Thermal Control Module® offers peace of mind, backed by our 5-year replacement warranty, and our 25-year parts warranty

Our energy-efficient products support American manufacturing, and long term environmental sustainability

Approximately 80% of refrigerated display cases in the USA do not have an ASH controller installed

Discover Your Potential Savings Using the "Thermal Control Module®"

  • Our average client has 16 reach-in cooler doors per store, with an average commercial electricity rate of $0.2286 per kWh in California. Typically, an ASH heater uses 100 watts of electricity continuously. If these average parameters align with your actual conditions, the estimated annual savings per store would amount to $3003.80. Over the 25-year warranty period, this translates to $75,095.00 in savings, with no additional overhead costs.

  • Considering the projected increase in electricity rates at 7% annually, your savings over our 25-year warranty period are estimated to reach an impressive $189,994.56. (For example, the average increase in electricity rates over the last 10 years is over 7.7% in California.)

  • These figures do not account for the additional savings from the extended lifespan of refrigeration system components, or the reduced runtime of your central air conditioner.

  • Please verify your current electricity rates, the number of cooler doors, and the wattage of your ASH heaters, as these factors can vary significantly, directly affecting your annual savings.

Rebates and Tax Deductions

Rebates from your local utility company can significantly offset the initial installation costs. As part of our comprehensive savings analysis, we will guide you through applying for any available rebates and incentives in your area, helping you further reduce costs.
